Caries also known as cavities is a bacterial infection that breaks down minerals in teeth. Caries ultimately produce cavitations in teeth, and is a major cause of tooth loss. The risk of this bacterial infection attacking teeth can be lowered when brushing and flossing is performed daily and fluoride and sealants are placed on teeth that have higher risk of caries. At Healthy Bodies Dental Center, a caries risk assessment will be performed and recommendations will be provided to keep your smile healthy.
Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums. The first sign of gingivitis may be bleeding gums during brushing or flossing. Gingivitis can cause discomfort in the gums when left untreated and is a source of halitosis or bad breath. Everyone is at risk for gingivitis. Gingivitis can be prevented. Gingivitis is reversible when treated aggressively. Schedule regular dental appointments with Healthy Bodies Dental Care to decrease your risk of developing gingivitis.
Many people will develop loss of bone and gum around the teeth caused by untreated and uncontrolled gingivitis. When periodontitis is detected early, your teeth can be maintained. However, when detected late, periodontitis will lead to tooth loss. Periodontitis is a serious condition that has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and preterm labor. Once periodontal disease has been diagnosed we can provide a maintenance program that will decrease the progression of the loss of support around your teeth. We screen for periodontal disease at our office.

Dry mouth is the condition when the salivary glands are not producing saliva at a normal rate. This can cause patients to feel that their mouth is always dry no matter how much water they drink. Root canals are the necessary course of action when a tooth has broken into the nerve, spontaneously throbs, or becomes hypersensitive to hot or cold temperatures. To alleviate pain, a root canal therapy is performed in our office with the aid of local anesthesia, nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”), or conscious sedation at your request. At Healthy Bodies Dental Center, it is our goal to make you as comfortable as possible while we restore your smile to its full health.
While our mission is to maintain your healthy smile, it is sometimes necessary to remove an infected tooth with a poor prognosis to reach that goal. Extractions are performed at our office with local anesthesia, nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”), or conscious sedation at your request. At Healthy Bodies Dental Center, it is our goal to make you as comfortable as possible while we restore your smile to its full health.
